Im running a 88 roller cam cougar engine in my 69 mustang yeah...non h.o motor. I need more flow though the heads and I have a pair of 69 351w heads off of a true mach 1 motor 4 brl heads has E0 stamped on them. will those heads give me noticably better flow? and also what head bolts do I use? I know I have to use the 351 intake gaskets. Im not sure if the intake is going to line up its a performer RPM? any info would help!

thanks,
Jeff

Check here for flow numbers http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/flowdata/castiron.htm A search will find what is involved with the swap.

those heads will flow quite a bit better than 302 heads and also have smaller chambers that will give you a small compression boost. you will need special head bolts or reducer bushings for the heads. the head bolts are fairly easy to find and you can even buy them from ford

look for a C9xx or D0xx casting number on the heads, if that E0 is what I think it might be, then you have heads cast in 1980 which would be some of the worst heads made. True early model 351W will have 1.84/1.54 vales and 60cc chambers. Intakes ports are slightly bigger than 289/302 heads, exhaust ports are the usual poor flowing design. If you use them, do a basic cleanup in the exhaust port and smooth out the thermactor bump.

What heads are on the engine now ? If it's got E6SE's on it, you may run into piston-valve clearance issues if you try to use any other small block head and a bigger cam. With E6SE's the engine's got pistons with no valve reliefs. One way to spot E6SE's with them on the engine is to look for a large "S" cast into one corner next to the valve cover. E7TE's have a large "T" in the same location, this engine will have pistons with valve reliefs.
