Do I have the right parts for my 91GT? I got a E cam with .030 over pistons, stock crank, stock lifters and pushrods with 1.6 stud mount rockers. Am I gonna have any problems with the stock goods? My biggest worry is the pushrods. Any suggestions or am I ok with what I got?
A 306 just uses different pistons, that are .030" over the stock bore size of 4.00". It reuses the stock crank throw (3.0") and stock connecting rod size (5.090").
You will likely be able to use the stock pushrod size, but stock pushrods are weak.
It is best to measure and get some aftermarket hardened pushrods, like Comp, TFS, or Engine Works.
It is always nice if you can measure for the correct pushrod length.
General rules of thumb are keeping the wear patch diameter small as the rocker goes across the valve stem top, and keeping it close to centered. A pushrod checker is needed for this.
what heads you got? Are you gonna run the e cam with stock heads. i wouldnt recommend pulling the engine all apart to put a cam in with stock heads, too much work for no real gain.trust me , been there, done that, got the t shirt
