315/35/17 on a '96-'98 GT. Does yor exhaust rub your tires?

I currently have a Bassani catback on my '98GT with 255/40/17 tires on my rear. There is about an inch gap between the catback and the tire so the biggest I could go with in the rear is 275/40. I would like to get some 17x10.5's with some 315/35's for the rear but there is no way the catback would clear the tire. This is a commonly know problem with the Bassani CB and big rear wheels.

My question is: does anybody have a '96-'98 GT with 315/35s on the back that doesn't rub your exhaust? If so, what catback do you have?

my cat is stock , and my 10.5's with 285's rub , so i had to get a 5/16 wheel spacer , now they are just right ....

It's really going to depend on the wheel offset/backspacing. My 10" wide Saleen wheels w/285's rubbed the Magnaflow Magna packs but cleared the Borla. So it will be hard to tell what wheel or exhaust combo will fit. There are some people that have no rubbing problems with 315's so....

I have a side exhaust kit, so I don't know about the exhaust...but I do have 315/35's on my 97. I would recommend going with 295, as my tires rub in the wheel well a little bit, and clearance is super tight. the newer stangs don't have this problem, but we do...get a smaller tire size, and you will still be happy.

combo of lowering springs + 315s is a bad idea. I talked to a guy a couple days ago with a 1997 GT that was lowered with 315s and whenever he hits bumps the tires scrape on the weel well (taking chunks out). Not good.

well I am gonna give 315's a try and if they rub I am gonna attack the wheel wells with a hammer.
