331?

Just bought a 302 block bored 30 over. Now, I was told that inorder to get a 331, it had to be bored 40 over, and the pitons 40? Is this true?


Should I stick w/ a 331 or go 347. Please state why, etc..

302 block
bore - 4.000 stroke- 3.00 = 301.6
bore - 4.030 stroke- 3.00 = 306
bore-4.00 stroke- 3.25 =327
bore-4.030 stroke - 3.25 = 331

personally i like the 331 (building one right now) more because a better rod ratio (i think that's the term) and i want to be a little different.

Ive never heard of a .040 bore for anything standard

we've bored engines .030,.040,.060 and .090 and .120 on some bb chevys.
