Since the Procharger F1A is rated at 1,100 horsepower would it be possible for it to make that rating on a 347 or would parasitic draw make that impossible?

I dont think you will get 1,100 hp out of a 347. If you do, it would be way too radical to drive anywhere but down the drag strip. You will need more cubes such as a 351 stroker of some kind.

1100 is possible. But not out of a factory block. It'll split after around 800 or so if your lucky.

Ditto what he said...use a 351W based block

I wouldn't use a factory block. I'd go with the Boss 302 FRPP block. I'd love to do the 351 swap I just wish I could find the FRPP 351 SN95 swap on ebay or something since FRPP discontinued them. I'm seeing if Kooks and MAC still make 351 SN95 swap headers. I really don't want to have to tweak fox headers to work.

don't use a boss block for a 347 the bores are short on the bottom end and the pistons come out the bottom too far. details:

Funny this came up. I was on the phone with FRPP asking about old blocks last week, and the topic of the Boss 302 block came up. FRPP openly admits that the bores are shorter. You can actually stroke it all the way up to a 3.500" stroke with no problem. The only hurtle comes from piston selection. You have to use a piston specifically designed for that block, and they are available. People are having trouble making stroker engines with these blocks because they are using traditionally available stroker kits. Ford made the block with shorter bores specifically so that you could run a 3.500" crank on it. The obvious point is that it is cheaper to use a traditional stroker kit with a Man O War block, or a Dart block (which are the same or cheaper than the Boss 302 block), then to hunt all over the performance market looking for those specific pistons with the dish you want for a blower. I don't see why you won't be able to make 1100 hp on a 347 with a blower, but I won't say that it will be street friendly. If you want a street friendly 1100hp, I would consider a turbo setup. If you have your heart set on a new Boss 302 block, all you have to do is call FRPP, and they will set you up with the correct pistons that you need. It's really not that big of a deal.

Thanks for warning me about the Boss 302. I had no idea they made the blocks that way. Looks like it's Dart all the way for me. At the time I thought they were cheaper than the dart blocks but then I discovered I could get a dart for a little over $2000.

I wouldn't say it sucks, just that it's different.

I heard there are guys making 1500+ horsepower with the two boss blocks FRPP offers. They just won't do it with the more main stream stroker kits out there like CHP or DSS. It feels like a douche move though. And I hope their sale of the BOSS 302 reflects what people think of that douche move.
