351C Exhaust donut gasket

I have a tick in my exhaust so I bought 2 new donut gaskets,when I tried to install the gasket it was took big my question does the 351C even have a donut gasket when I took the passenger side off it did not have a gasket at all should the studs be longer to fit the bigger donut?

Had the same problem when I rebuilt my 71 351C. Donut gaskets looked like a great idea but did not fit the pipes. I don't think the 351C needs a gasket on the exhaust manifolds. Just for the fun of it I tried to make the gasket work. I had to split the gasket in half like slicing bread with a hacksaw then I used each half over the exhaust pipe. Worked OK but was a PITA.
