I'm looking to rebuild my 351M motor. Doesn't seem to bad in costs, since I'm keeping the stock heads and having them rebuilt. Seems I can't get a motor less than $3,000. Anyone think I can do it cheaper?

If its a 351M, then turn and run. POS motors. Go find yourself a nice 351C w/ those nice big cleveland heads...then you'll make some power

It's almost the same as a 400, which lots of people would say is worth building 'cept for the 49ci deficit.

A better bet would be to find a 400 or get a rebuilt one. A 351C is not a direct replacement for a 351M/400; the 351C has a smallblock bellhousing/motor mount pattern while the 351M/400 is the same as a 429/460 big block. Might as well upgrade to a 385 series engine.

Ok, not looking for alot of power. She's actually not going in the mustang, but my 78 ford-f150. This was the stock motor and a rebuild is cheap. What's wrong with the M motor? Always been a good motor for me, but yet I've never done much mod's to one. Just wondering if anyone has actually built one of these motors and if so, were you happy?

nothing wrong with a m it just the super low compression www.351cleveland.net for the cleveland/m forums and this site for some closed chamber 2v heads to bump the compression http://www.ausfordparts.com/
