Are there any 1 3/4 or larger headers that will go on a 351w in a 65 mustang without messing with the shock towers much and under 200.00$. Both of the engines I have have the wide bolt pattern exhaust pattern and I'm not willing to down grade on heads. I've toyed with the mII front idea but I'm on a small allowance from the wife for toys. The300.00- 700.00$ headers are way out of line in my opinion,I can buy a welder and materials and afford to mess up a few times for that cost.(<venting on cost)
Thanks
Mike

I doubt if there are any at that price. Hooker Headers has a set but they cost more money than that. There's one guy on here that has a custom set for his car but they probably cost more than the Hookers.

It might be pretty tough to build your own as there really isn't much room, particularly at the driver's rear next to the steering column.

Also, am not really sure that you can make them cheaply. The flanges and individual bends will add up quickly.

I have a set of 1 3/4" Accufab's that fit fairly well, although they are now a little over $500. I did do a little shock tower clearancing, as I wanted the motor to be installed as low as possible in the engine compartment. That sets the motor tighter into the "V" of the shock towers and thus even less clearance, especially since my heads have raised ports. The clearancing was relatively minor and could be undone from under the fenders should the need arise. The ground clearance borders on phenomenal.

If you seriously want to do this yourself, I can provide other pics of these headers in and out of the engine compartment.

You can find them on eBay now and again for about that money.

Otherwise, headers have gone through the roof over the last 10 years.
They used to all be reasonably priced.
Now, only the absolute cheapest and most common headers are in the +/-100 range.
Everything else pretty much starts at around 400... Sux, but that is the state of headers today.

MY suggestion would be to NOT buy the accufabs. I just bought some. Absolutely the biggest pos I have ever paid for. And VERY expensive also. None of the bolts would go into the holes, and this was even before I put them up to the heads! Found 2 big leaks. The one side, was pointing directly at the floor! I could go on for days on the junk. Damn good thing I got them uncoated so I could fix everything. :nonono: :notnice:
My suggestions would talk with
