351W hydraulic or mechanical flat tappet cam?

I still havent purchased my cam for my .040 over 351W. When the motor was built a few years ago it was built with a stock valvetrain. So it has a hydraulic cam, and lifter setup. Do you think i should step up to mechanical lifters and cam instead so i dont have to worry so much about floating a valve? All i would have to do is change out the cam and lifters right? how about the pushrods? thanks guys!

What's the combo and intentions of the car?

You'll need new pushrods, lifters and cam. There are gains from swapping to a mech roller however, especially if you are using a small base circle cam on a converted old roller block.

well the motor isnt a roller, its a flat tappet. its a 1975 block, and heads. i would like to have a roller cam, lifters, and rockers like a stock 5.0HO, but i dont know if it will cost to much to do, or even if i can. See i thought i could go with a mechanical or solid lifter setup and camshaft, but still flat tappet. OR should i step up to a roller, and how hard would that be
