So I am almost done with the motor swap in my frineds 69 mustang (we went from a 302 to a 351W). But of course I am hung up on a few things.
1. Does anyone have a picture of the alternator installed on a 351W in a 69 mustang? I have the two brackets from the 302 motor, but they are not working, I seem to remember that the 351w had another brakcet for the alt.
2. The dreaded Z bar. This is being a major pain. We are running headman long tubes and of course there is an interferance problem. We tried using a z bar for a 302 and then we also tried using a z bar for a 351. The 302 z bar fit much better (351 z bar didn't fit at all), but it was rubbing on the header. I was thinking about massaging the headers, but I wasn't sure if that would give me enough room. How much room do i need between the header and the z bar and is there a trick to this. I already have the frame mount loosened and the driver side of the motor jacked up.
Thanks,
Mario
