I am doing a 351w swap. I plan on using the convertable mounts that are already in the car for now. I will be using a victor intake and holley carb with no spacer. Will this fit under my 2" cowl or am I gonna have to have a bigger cowl. I have seen pictures of cars with this setup that look like the top of the "tall" valve covers sit flush with the top of the fenders and I have seen ones that look no different than a 5litre. Where is the dramatic difference in the motor height coming from? I found this picture on another mustang forum. though it looks bad aZZ, this is what I dont want to happen.

i would say the best bet is to just try the hood and if it don't close then you'll need a bigger cowl

 Well, thats a no brainer. My car has new paint and I really dont like the big cowl hoods. I will change my intake selection before I put a bigger hood on it.

I think if you run a short style air filter you could probably get away with it. I'm doin the fuelie route under a stock hood.....Barely clears, i mean barely. I have enough room for the motor to torque a little. I have probably a 1/4" between the elbow and the hood, and im using a tall Super Victor.
