351W VALVE QUESTION

I have a pair of 69 W heads that need reworked. Instead of putting in new valve guides are there any valves that have a wider stem that would work after machining the guides out? I'd like a valves a little bigger than stock.

Can't say I've seen them. But a set of valves has to be more than new guides, right? And you'd want to clean up the valve seat for new valves anyway so you still are machining. I'd save money somewhere else.

You want bigger valves for the valve faces, not fatter stems. Fatter stems will actually reduce flow.

Thats why some valves are machined towards the bottom of the stem (at the valve) for increased flow. 1.94 in 1.6 ex are the biggest you can run on windsors.

you can run a 2.02/1.60 but you'd have to notch the pistons, unless you use the TFS twisted wedge heads.

Would there be enough seperation between the valves to run a 2.02 inch intake?

The 1.94 and 1.6 is what I had in mind. I guess bigger valve stems are not the way to go to keep from putting in new guides. Thanks for the answers.
