I have a 67 mustang S code which appears to be all original. Pulled the engine and I was looking for casting numbers on the block and all I found so far is 2B9. From what I have read that means February 9, 1962. The heads are original, I think. They have a casting number C7AE-A. If anybody could help with where the casting number might be, please help.

The heads very well could be original but the block I would lean towards no. A 1962 block would have a different engine mount than a block from 1967. your 1962 should have a 2 bolt engine mount on the sides of the block. later block would have a 4 bolt engine mount. If it is a 2B9 block with a 4 bolt engine mount, then you might have a 1972 block. the 1967 mustangs had a 4 bolt engine mount. hope this helps.

Ok, I went a checked all the #'s and the mount holes. There are 4 holes in the block but the mounts only had 3 holes and bolts with FOMOCO on them. I looked all over that block for a casting # and all I found was the date code W I and 2B9 the rest of the castings were in the front a 352 with a 2 on top of that I found DIF 53 and in the back were the bell housing bolts is 352- A that is all I have found on this block. The intake has # S C6AE- 9425G the exhaust manif. # C6OE-9439 and 94301-A and both heads have C7AE-A. Is there any chance they casted these blocks without part #'s or are the part #'s hidden somewere you can;t see untill you pull it apart. Thanks for all your help.

Well, I went to another site " S code registery" and someone was saying that a over the counter replacement block would not have a casting number on it. So mabye that is what I have, but everything else is tuning out to be corect. Let me know what you think.

Can you post a picture of the casting number? Maybe what looks like a "2" is actually a "7."

You've got a later date block is all, I've run across two 390 blocks that had no casting numbers, it's not unusal. The two I had were 68 blocks. Someone replaced the original with a short block. The intake, heads and exhaust are correct for a 67.
