3g help ate a belt!!!!

just would like to know what guys with a 3g upgrade in a fox have done to line up the alt with the other asscesories.my car has been running only 20 mins and the belt is toast.i could just use some washers to shim it out but wanted to hear what other guys have done. thanks phil

i have heard others say they need to gring some of the bracket down to lign it up............. but if you need to move it out some try washers...............

you must grind it regardless, otherwise it will not bolt in. HOw far is it off? I didnt have any problems.

i didnt have any belt alighment issues either.

i didn't use any shims either,but i didn't use the stock 3ga pulley either.i used the march u/d pulley.

Somehow the pulley is unaligned to the rest of the pullies, either your going to have to shim the pulley or the alternator at the bracket. I didn't have to do any shimming though.

so just bolt it up and and leave it.than the eye where the bolt goes through should be flush with the alt.bracket?

On my 3G alternator, there was a bushing that was pushed flush into the mounting ears as the bolts were tightened. If you didn't tighten it all the way it would still feel like it's mounted solid, but wouldn't be lined up right.

Could that be your problem?
