Good afternoon guys,

Today I got my LED 3rd brake light assembly in. I installed it and once I plugged it in I turned the lights on to check it to make sure everything was good to go and it didnt illuminate until I pressed the brake pedal.

Is it not supposed to stay on with the brake lights after you turn the lights on? Or is it off until pedal is depressed?

Thank you. I was unsure since I've seen others that are on with the brake lights at all times.

Just wanted to make sure I didnt have a short or an issue somewhere.

Your other brake lights have a dual filament bulb for brakes and running lights, 3rd one is brakes only if you are curious.

I appreciate that. I'm guessing the ones I've seen had the 3rd brake light wired into the running lights possibly?

You'd have to do custom wiring to make that happen. Not sure why you'd want to though. Many people are programmed to react to the 3rd brake light coming on. I know I am, and usually change lanes when I get behind a car with a burned out 3rd brake light.
