4:10 And Shift Points

I installed 4:10 in my car i dont have a problem with the gear but the problem is i am hitting the rev limiter. I have the hypertech handheld tuner. i have played with the shift points and raising the rev limiter and i have still hit it twice. the car is an 2000 auto. anybody have any idea where is the best place to set the shift points?

After installing 4.10s, I would occasionally hit the rev limiter during the 2-3 shift. I bumped all shifts down to 5600 RPM then went to the track. I made pass after pass and finally settled on 1-2 @ 5650, 2-3 at 5600, 3-4 @ 5600.

ughhh another reason why I like a stick shift it where I wanna shift at.

it would make things alot easier if i had a 5speed. my auto is no slouch. i haven't lost to a 5speed yet.

Lowered 1-2 and 2-3 shift point by 500rpms. More than 100 passes at the track this year and no rev limiter.

4.10 gear will put you right beside a 3.27 stick and maybe a little quicker.

Shift points stay the same with gear upgrades. You just need to figure out what the optimum RPM to shift at without running out of your peak HP. With gears the shift points just come quicker.

i am going to try lowering the 1-2 and the 2-3 in incriments tonight and see if that works thanks again everyone.

I think it's a little different for automatics. There was an article on tccoa.com about shift points and 4.10s that explains it better but what I remember is that the factory shift point is the beginning of the shift. The actual shift happens a short time after that. With 4.10s, the RPMs climb faster so the beginning of the shift should be moved earlier, in some cases.
