4:10 gears

darn thats kinda high. stock gears are like 2000 rpms at 70 or so? 1000 rpm increase due to the gears?
is it intolerable, cus i was looking into getting 4.10s over 3.73s due to the performance aspects.

cruising on the highway with the 4.10s isn't bad at all. we have 4.10s in our 01 saleen and they are great. i forget what rpm it runs at around 80mph, but where it is at i think is tolerable. i love the 4.10s! they are great.

hey man dont fear 4.10's they are nice gears for our cars and not bad on the highway trust me when i was thinking of getting gears i did a lot of searching and looking for opinions pros and cons of 4.10 and 3.73 and i must say the 4.10's are nice even on the highway

performance wise its great to have the car pull so strong in 4th and 5th gear

i love them

my only advise is if u are getting a blower then go with the 3.73 but if u are going to be mostly stock or all motor get the 4.10's man the car is a lot of fun driving around town with the 4.10's

sorry i dont have the exact number but 3000 is to high, if i had access to my cars it would help...its winter over here.

bur a simple way to do it is like 4.10/3.27=1.2538 (change in ratio)
take the old rpm say..2000rpm with 3.27 with 4.10 equale 2000*1.2538=2507 rpm.

since you have the same tire and trans as before you just do that.
for my i'm still bugging with 3.73 or 4.1 waiting for spring just to check how the cars sounds at those rpm and after that the gears is in :spot:

for now it's 4.1 in my mind

I will say there are major benefits to the 4.10s. The only drawback is my highway gas mileage is now worse but it's better in the city, where I do most of my driving. I did a test a while ago where I filled up my tank, drove a little over half of a tank on the highway & the rest in the city & only averaged 15mpg for the entire trip. It woulda been better had I've stayed in the city. Highway mileage is gone now. But I don't care. I ain't much of a highway person. Not much need to go there.
