Ive tried the searching , but mostly found useless threads like, SRT-4 waxes 2005? and stuff like that. And alot in the other forums. I wanted to get higher gears, but im wondering what the RPMs are. Im mostly concerned about 80 MPH because that is the speed i go on the freeway. I do not want to burn up alot of gas if its going to be around 3500 RPM. Currently its at 2250-2500. Since it takes 35-40 dollars a tank, and me filling up once every week, thats alot of gas.

At 80 MPH in 5th gear, your just a hair over 2700 RPMs vs. about 2400 with stock 2.55s. I checked mileage under the following conditions: mostly in-town, some highway, air conditioner on about 40% of the time. I'm not light-footed and got 19 MPG with 93 octane. Check my signature for mods. I have a 5-speed manual tranny. IMO 4.10s are a great improvement - well worth the investment. It's like a different animal now - quick throttle response to the wheels in every gear. Hope this helps!

i saw that video and i noticed it wasnt for a 05. So i figured it had different tranny and stuff.

If I remember right the later models of the GT (like 2001-2004) had the 3650 in it, so there is no difference. Gears are gears.

depends. i think you'd have alot of traction problems. with forced induction, I'd say 3.73's would be optimal, but really it's all what feels best for you. traction, on a daily basis, let alone at the track, would be reduced greatly with 4.10's. Go 4.10's if you're getting some good rubber. With normal tires, I'd say no way.

My opion is subjective but I'm pleased with the procharge and 4.10's.

So how would the 4:10's work on an automatic. (Im not very mechanically inclined.) Is a reflash of the computer necesary.

For an automatic Ford Racing recommends 3.75 gears. It wouldn’t hurt to have a tune but it is not necessary if you are only changing out the gears. Re-flashing the computer is only needed when changing the exhaust and or induction.

you do need to calibrate your speedo with a tuner. one guy is having problems with ford and his 4.10s. they claim the gears ruin the engine calibration, as it is calibrated for stock gears. i think it is , but just beware.

4.10s would be fine with an automatic, and many have done it.

you need to find a local high performance shop, or a good mechanic to do the gear install.

i have been looking into 4.10 gears and i got a price of $525 installed for everything(price of $1300.00 from the dealership). That price seemed pretty fair to me. The guy who is doing it was a ford mechanic and they use ford parts. I was told by them that with a Xcal2 tune that i already have that the tune will adjust to the new gears. Anyone have an experience with that?
