4.10 gears

i have been looking into 4.10 gears and i got a price of $525 installed for everything(price of $1300.00 from the dealership). That price seemed pretty fair to me. The guy who is doing it was a ford mechanic and they use ford parts. I was told by them that with a Xcal2 tune that i already have that the tune will adjust to the new gears. Anyone have an experience with that?

If that's with Ford gears, that's a very good price. The gears are $200+, so that leaves your mechanic about 3-hours to do all that work! It's a 4-hour job unless your mechanic is some kind of rear end god! You won't be sorry with the 4.10's. They turn your car into a monster!

I have a 2005 Saleen S/C and just put 4.10 in replacing 3.55 and it made my supercharger come alive. We also netted over 40 horse more on the dyno. I'm new to mustangs but let me tell you there is a huge difference on performance and fuel!! Also I only paid $378 installed for the gears at CD performance in MA

For the guys that are worried about the 4.10's and the tuner. Changing the gear ratio has nothing to do with the tune. Look through your manual on the tuner and it should tell you how to get to gear ratio, and change it that way, not hard at all.

if you decide to swap gears- you might want to think about a new driveshaft- since they have to drop that anyway- 2 birds- 1 stone.

i had a carbon fiber one on my 02 gt- and i would recommend a new driveshaft to anyone.

side note- i wonder how long it'd take for the excess cost of gas to multiply until you've paid for a supercharger...
