4.10 Question?

Just bought a used 2003 GT that looked a little modified. Sent it to the dealer to fix the speedo problem I was having and he tells me that there is 4.10 gears in the back. He also said that he will reflash my chip to recalibrate the speedo and it will also add about 40hp. Now my question is how is reflashing my ecm ,with only 4.10s that i know of, going to give me 40hp. New to the mustang scene, so please, tell me I wrong.

it wont, maybe 10-15hp

Maybe they're advancing the timing? but that's like 10hp From Ford though, I doubt they are.
Unless he means the gears and speedo are giving you 40 hp, then

I'm not use to dealers being so nice. I thought they would take the gears out or void my warranty, not help me tune it!

did you go to Down's Ford? They are extremely mod friendly.

..... 40 hp? wow.. that's a little overkill isn't it?

Like jonjon said, the timing would gives you around 10 hp.. I will dyno my car after reflash sometime this week.. hopefully..

So I got it back and it doesn't feel like 40hp. They used some sort of superchip programmer to calibrate it for the 4.10s. They said it only cost them $500 instead of the $1500 to return it to stock. Sounds good to me.

P.S. I went to Larson Ford in Lakewood
