Well, I finally had my gears installed. Went with the 4:10's instead of 3:73's beacause I'm most likely going to stay NA. I must say, I'm not as impressed as I thought I was going to be. You can obviously feel a difference in torque and get up and go, but not as much as I expected. Took it on the highway and at about 2700 RPM's at 80. That was with my GPS detecting my speed, I have not recvd my SCT tuner yet to recal. the speedomoter. Anywho.....I'm going to post some vid clips of MPH/RPM comparison when I get a chance. Any questions, let me know

That doesn't sound to far off. I don't really know what 80 is rpm wise in mine, but 70 is just under 2400. I have 4.10's as well.

Ummm, nope. At least not on my car. Here's a calculator for ya....

http://www.tchracing.com/tech/gearcalc.php

Heres what I got for an answer, which is basicly what my car is at:

Your tire's diameter is 25.681 inches
At 80 MPH in 5th gear, your motor is turning at 2,661.7 RPM

Hey Tim,

I ordered my SCT tuner this past week and waiting for it to come in. How much of a difference did you notice and in what departments did you notice them in (TQ/HP/Throttle Response etc.)? I am also looking at the MGW shifter now that I will be banging gears a little more often. Whats your opinion on that also? I only ask because we both have 02's.

Thanks!

I noticed with GT's 2001.5 and up they used a different tranny, which makes the RPM difference. I think it's a T45 in the lower years and a 3650 in mine. I think? lol

thats the right rpm for the 3650, would be around 2900 for the t45 at 80mph. I honestly can't see how you aren't totally impressed with 4.10s.

give him a few days... i was like that too - but only because you expect too much, nothing is as good as FI, but youll see soon that 4.1o's are where its at - go drive a stock GT next week and you will see the light

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking, driving a stock GT and making a comparison. Maybe even racing another. I think Im a lil weary at first of smoking tires/using more gas/and banging gears to much than usual, lol. That's why I bought the gears though.......so I can do all that sh&t

The biggest difference I felt with the tuner was in the lower RPM range. Throttle response was considerably better than the stock tune. MGW shifters are awesome! The gear changes have a nice "positive" feel and the handle is adjustable. Which adds alot to driver comfort.

About your impressions, you have to be careful on what you read and the bias opinions you get. Things get 'exaggerated' naturally.

Most of the time when a mod is done, many are semi-dissapointed because it did not do what other stangers seem to imply.

when I put the 4.10's in my car I could not wipe the smile off my face for a few days, it was the best mod I did to that car. only problem is traction after the gears.
