Sorry to make another gear thread but i just bought a 8.8 rear end with 4.10 gears. I'm swapping out my 7.5 with what i believe are 2.73s. Will this be too much gear for the car? I have always been under the impression that 4.10s were the gears you wanted for track use. It runs high 13s with the stock gears so will I see any drop in ETs? Thanks.

I've had 4:10 in my 93 Cobra for 7 years, only drive it on the street, and what a hoot to drive, you'll love what it feels like.

Ditch the 7.5" before you grenade it, lol.

You will definitely see an ET drop, along with your fuel economy on the freeway dropping (i dont know how big of a concern that is/the purpose of the car)... Im turning 2500rpm at 70 with 3:73s and a T5. I would be curious to see what 4:10s will wind out at cruise speed.

ill advised

My cam lift is 585/612. I'm looking forward to it, plus it's a 393.

i wouldnt believe what im saying if it weren't my car.

i drove 66 miles this weekend after fully filling the tank. my speedometer is within 3% verified by gps tracking and the speed trap calibrators. so it's about as good as it gets for one of these cars.

i filled it again after it registered 66 miles, 2.1 gallons is where it clicked at. so roughly 31 mpg out of my notch. this was with 2 people, 4:10's, t-5, h/c/i/full bolt-on car. i even have 18's on it..

it is getting better mileage then my commuter car (acura TL) in town and comparible on the freeway.
