4.10's installed today

oh my ****ing god, its a whole new car. The first time i jumped on it the whole front of the car started to lift up it was absolutely amazing. If you guys havent heard it enough do not even bother getting 3.73, 4.10's are absolutely amazing :nice:

:D <-- is how i looked when i first got on it

Way to go....soon enough though, you'll wanna join the .30 club! Seriously though..congrats! Bet it feels like a whole new car!!!!!!!!

Edit time....another inexpensive (not that the gear install was) mod that will put a smile on your face is a set of UDP's and a timing adjuster....Plus later w some more mods you can get a tune then sell em and get part of your money back. Trust me...it's a good, fairly inexpensive mod that gives you flexibility and a big grin on your face once they're on!

Just added a one-touch window controller for the passenger side,
and Air Silencer removed so I'm probably hitting low 10s.

...Uhhh...yeah...

did you break them in first? I just got done letting mine get seated or whatever properly by driving the car decent for about 1000 miles. Now i'm gonna drain the rearend oil and put new stuff in. It killed me to drive nice but i was told by my dad's good friend and a mechanic/drag racer that i would want to get them broke in a little before i mashed the loud pedal. is he full of **** and i torchered myself for 1k miles or did i do the right thing.

I still havent gotten on mine hard yet. Im breaking them in for 200 miles before i go over 3000 rpms or floor it. I heard that 200-300 is the norm. 1000 seems really really high for break in milage.

Get a job at a Ford dealership and you can do it too!! :D
Actually, I had to buy the gears, they are helping with the install.

OKay that makes more sense...I thought that somehow because of your rear end about to go, you had convinced them to put 4.10s in there instead of stockers and that the work would be covered under warranty...

...and would everyone stop talking about how awesome 4.10s are...you guys are like Bill Gates telling a homeless man how awesome 50 billion dollars is...for those us not yet part of the 4.10 club, it just creates such feelings of envy and jealousy :D

Some people will tell you that ther is no break in required for gears, but it doesn't hurt to take it easy for the first 200 or so miles before you hammer on it. I work at the axle plant and I was told by several guys(some who have 30 years+ experience in dealing with rear axles) to take it easy for at least 150 miles to let a good pattern get worn in. Even though the ring and pinion geat lapped and matched together, when they are installed they still wear a little bit more before the finally get settled it. I didn't mash the throttle on mine 'til almost 250 miles, and the first place I did it at was the track. :D

Wow.. What is the stock ratio? I do alot of highway driving, at like 70-80 MPH.. will 4:10's allow me to do that still? (while maintaing 22 MPG highway)
I never looked into gears, only untill now i didnt appreciate cars enough.
Also, @ 75 MPH, what is the engines rpm.. roughly .. just so i can get an idea of how the exhaust is going to sound.
