Thanks,
I thought I had seen a previous post you had made, mentioning the 3000 RPM at 90 MPH. That is one reason I actually went ahead and went with the 4.10s instead of 3.73s. So while driving tonight hitting just under 2700 @ 80 didn't seem bad at all. Whatever. Your reassurance has helped. Thanks..

Haven't hit 90 yet, got arrested last week. Trying to play it safe for now, speed limit here on the freeway is between 60 and 65 depending on where you are. I do think @ 90 I would be right at 3000 or just a notch above.

No, I was referred to a guy by a sales associate at Dallas Mustang, he did it at his house, and I had my car back in less than two hours. Let me know if you need some more info.

That is the fastest gear swap I have ever heard of. Even the fast guys need 3.5 to 4 hours!

Two thumbs up on going with the 4.10s...I'm also in the Dallas area. I'm using a SpeedCal as well, but I've had zero problems with it.

Good choice. Best for the street. Now imagine being able to take it up to 7 K rpms.

Still scared to try that gear with my 02 Auto.

Was thinking 3.55 for more top speed.

If you go here:

4.10 put you at 100 in third !! Not good at the track.

Auto, 275/40R17 tires

gears are no secret my friend.....people are just scared for some reason. That's why they are known as the poor mans supercharger......and if you actually pay attention you will realize that you get better city MPG....highway now that is a different story

What kind of top speed are you aiming for and where do you plan to use this top speed?
4.10 and 100 MPH in 3rd - hey, sounds good to me...Yep, if all goes well you'd like to be in 4th for just the last bit of the 1320.

Off topic a little bit.
Where is a good place to get the gears for as cheap as possible?
I wanted to get them for a while now, and this thread just convinced me to get 4.10s instead of the 3.73s

The diff. between the 2 trannys rpm's are not that much different.
They are almost identical.

not quite.

typical 4.10 gear GT runs about 111mph at 6000 rpm in 4th
4th is 1:1 ratio, so both trans are identical rpm's at this point

t-45 @ 6000 x .68 = 4080rpm at the same speed in 5th
t-3650 @ 6000 x .62 = 3720rpm at same speed in 5th

over 300 rpm difference shifting from 4th to 5th is NOT identical.

Check this site ---> https://fordparts.com/index.php

They have pretty good prices.

They either put 3.73's in or your speed cal is off because I am right at 2900 rpm at 80. I have checked various times because I hate it, I had Tim fix my speedo when I got my dyno tune and I have also been clocked by radar at 60, 70, 80 mph and the speed I was doing was what the radar read also. The radar was calibrated and correct.
