I have an option of getting a 9 inch 3rd member with 4.11s and trac lok pretty cheap. My problem is I have the crappy t-5 with 3 something first gear and won't get to g-force it until next year with a lower first gear and low overdrive. Is this center going to be a pain until then?

of course it will! i have the "crappy" t-5 with a 3.27 first gear going to a 4.11 rear, and even though it whines out fast in first, it makes great for hard and fast launches outta the hole. and during normal city driving, you can just start out in 2nd gear.

T5 Info.

You probably have the 3.35 first gear. 4.11's will be pretty steep for that where the 2.95 would be much better.

IMHO it will be a pain but how much pain, will be decided by the driver.

With your tire size, you can check some of the online calculators to find out what your final 5th gear RPM will be. You should have a yellow 7 tooth speedo gear in the tranny and you will need to find out what is on your speedo cable.

On a positive note you could do really well at the tractor pulls.

why not just buy it and sit on it until you upgrade your T5?

The reason I don't want to sit on it is that its posi and 9 inch and I have an open 8 inch under my car now with my 9 inch houseing and 3.25 open sitting waiting for a posi center to go in. I guess if I really don't like it I could switch out the 4.11s for the 3.25s in the other center.
