Can anybody (who has 4:11 gears) tell me what rpm I can expect to run at on the highway (say around 60-70 mph) if I do decide to upgrade from my 3:55s?

By the way, I'm running a T5 tranny.

First off, 4.11s are a GM gear. Fords have 4.10s.

Second it depends a bit on how tall your tire/rim combo is. On my Ponys with somewhat low profile tire (245/50) i run around 2700rpm at 70mph. Taller tires will help bring your highway RPMs down.

That's what I thought....but everybody here in my brokerage firm was telling me that 4:10s were a GM gear and that Ford's were the 4:11s. Sorry about that.....but anway.

Shoot! 3k rpms is NOT that bad with 4:10s. Everybody else opined that 4:10s (4:11s) would put me at around 4k rpms on the highway. I didn't think it would wind me up THAT high....but, in any event, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Are 3:73s also a GM gear?

To go up or down in gear and figure out your RPM in gear:

(Current RPM) X (New Gear) / (Old Gear) = New RPM

For instance: 2100 x 4.10/3.55 = 2425 rpm

should be approximately 2500 at 65, depending on tire size. The factory tire size should put you somewhere around that rpm.

First off you can put a 4.11 gear in a 8.8 without any problem
Second here is a website with a rpm calculator
