I'm trying to decide what I'd rather throw some money at for the winter. You all know the car, and I'm really kind of torn on which way to go.

If I keep the 2v, I'll probably replace the heads and cams and call it done. It'll probably make somewhere in the 400 fwhp neighborhood for power. I may or may not do the IDA 40 weber carb swap, depends on money.

I have a 4 cyl turbo engine out of an 86 SVO. I'd wanna run the Volvo 240 head (because I think it looks cool), and I'll build the motor to make the same HP as above, problem is....there is absolutely NO ROOM for an intercooler. I'd have to use water/meth as the only solution for that.

Obviously there will be a significant amount of fabrication w/ "plan B", and for me certainly not a problem.

I just don't want to go off in some goofy-assed direction and after spending all the time and money to convert it, have a bunch of people walk away scratching their heads thinking "Now why the hell did he do THAT?"

You can use an air to water aftercooler. They're not as nice as front mounts but they work. I also had a friend who mounted an IC for his blower car horizontal with the ground under the front of the car, sort of behind the radiator and under where the fan would be, and he made a scoop to funnel air into it.

I think the 4.6 looks the part with the large heads, and H/C/I would be a nice combo that is still fitting. The FI 2.3, as cool as it would be, wouldn't fit the theme of the car, imo.

^^ Agreed. I would go with a carbed 4 valve in something like that. You could paint it and dress it up to look like a DOHC 427 with as big as it is.

A 4V conversion would be pretty sweet. Been in love with them since I got my Cobra.

Except I'm not talking about converting the thing to 4v. I'd probably replace the stock heads w/ Trick flows' new 2v head.

I realize that, just stating an unrelated fact. lol

Seriously though, you just got it finished, you really want to pull it all apart already?

I know! I'm kinda like suffering from something like post partum!

Whatever I do, it'll be done over winter during the really cold months, and wont put the car down for more than a month anyway.

The power band just isn't what I was expecting. It seems OK, but I'd rather it be more linear and pull stronger through 5500, Right now, It just seems like it is ready to be shifted at 4k. (street driving)

its cheaper to put an esslinger head on a 2.3, and youll make more hp. If you want the inline 4 DOHC look, put a 4g63 in it lol, they look cooler.

your car was made to look old school, but its a newer car, you cant really make a high tech turbo'd 4 look old school. I think a carbed 4v 4.6 would look great! plus it would sound the part as well.

oh, and a 4v with decent cams will pull like HELL to 6500+. 2v's take some work, but with a set of trickflows and badass cams they make alot more than your average n/a 4v. im building a 13.5-1 teksid motor right now actually, its going under a set of windsor pi's I ported earlier this year.

Trick Flows or a 4V will certainly pull past 5500 RPMS.

As cool as a turbo-4 would be, I think it would completely wreck your theme. The 4.6 looks the part of a "classic", yet is really a modern component, just like the car itself. A turbo 4 doesn't.

Thanks all. That's what I was looking for. ( It's really the reason that the 4 cyl w/ a hair dryer isn't in there in the first place)

I found a local yard that has a MK VIII 4 v engine he says has 56k on it for 800.00 running. That is a Teksid block right? I think I'm get that thing next month If my money ship comes in in the next two weeks.

teksid block with 4V heads would be cool. a 400 horse turbo motor would be really angry, people wouldnt like it, but who cares.

If i were you i would buy the teksid motor, and put a paxton on it, since the old shelbys came with paxtons back in the day

Dude, as cool as the 2.3 would be, it would totally screw up your particular car. PLEASE DON'T DO IT!

Yeah, that should be a Teksid block.
