Does anyone know how much horsepower the 4.6 engine, without modifications, can take before there is internal damage?

I just put a supercharger on my stang and am running at 5 psi. Would like to go to 8 psi but have been told that the engine cannot handle the power. (Approximately 450 hp)

I know that the talk forums aren't searchable, but if you just look back through the last few days posts, there was one that discussed this very topic. Actually it may have been in tech. If thats the case, you would be able to search it.

To answer the question, 450 RWHP seems to be the magic number that get's tossed around quite a bit, especially if you do not get a custom dyno tune. If you keep it around 400, most people feel that you won't have any problems whatsoever. The 1 issue is that the car is new enough that there are not that many cars with big HP numbers with any kind of serious mileage (60K+) to really know for sure. All we can look at are guys that got their '05s early on and are pushing 30-40K.
