Hey guys,

pretty new to the 4.6 arena...got an '04 4.6 stang...just trying to figure out make the worthiness of my purchase sink in...what kinds of options do I have with this engine as far as performance....Im kinda interested in stroking in the engine out, but dont know what my options are with this engine as far as what a safe, solid range would be to stroke it out to, and if the engine could withstand that, couple with boost? Any help would be awesome!

they make plenty of stroker kits for the 4.6. i did most of my research about strokers is by grabbing a 5.0mustang mag and looked at the companys that made a 4.6 stroker. the biggest i found was a 5.1 but generally you'll find 5.0 strokers. another good way to find 4.6 performance would be to read the forums. they have great info and check out the performance parts people have on there cars. you'll see a lot of similarity. i can't recommend a particular stroker cause i have never used any. but i am sure others on can recommend one. hope this helps.

The biggest you can go is to about 302 or 304 as far as stroking the stock block (inadequate deck height). However, theres company's out there such as X2C Motorsports who sell a complete 330 or 347 stroker kit which includes a new 5.0L block.

The most popular power-adding mod is forced induction or Nitrous. Theres a maltitude of supercharger kits on the market for the 4.6L including Vortech, ATI, Paxton, Kenne Bell, etc.

Thats actually very insightful! How much would it cost to stroke the engine out to 302 like in a kit? And with one of these kits, would the engine still be able to withstand boost from a turbo or supercharger? I dont think I'll use an aftermarket engine or crate motor though.
