Hey guys, I'm sure what I'm about to ask has been answered hundreds of times in the past. But I can't find anything concrete on the topic. Basically here's what it is. I found a 96 White GT mustang with 196k for $2200. I've overlooked the car and it's mechanically sound. The body and paint is good and the interior is great. However I know aftermarket for the SOHC is somewhat scarce and expensive as opposed to the good 'ole pushrod 5.0. I know that in 94-95 the SN-95 retained the small block 302. Basically the question is. How difficult will the swap of a 5.0 to a 96 mustang GT be? Thanks a lot guys. I'm thinking it's relatively simple. It's just a matter of wiring. But I don't know.

Buy a tubular K member if possible, you'll be happier. Also, you'll need the computer for the 302 unless you go with a carb'd 302. The difference is obd 1 for the old 302 and obd 2 that is currently in your car. The wiring can be a nightmare as well. I have helped make this swap once before and you'll need to take your time and be patient. This is not as easy as it sounds. Also be sure you have plenty of workspace available. I would get the wires brand new and not salvage.

Maximum Motorsports offer a tubular K for that swap but the 94-95 will work if your doing it on the cheap.

Thanks guys. I found a motor/trans combo for $400. The motor has around 80k on it. So aside from motor mounts. Can I just go take the wiring harness/ECU and K member from a wrecked 94-95?

You will need the K frame and motor mounts. I would advise that you get the ECM, the steering column, dash harness..(94-95 do not have PATS system...96-04 do), and the body harness. I know the 99_ have the fuel pump module in the left rear trunk area...without it, it is not possible to get it to run.

Get a donor car, peicing it together will be challenging.
