I have a 2001 Bullitt Mustang, and am thinking about selling the motor and putting a 2001 Lightninng motor to replace it becuase a friend of mine just wrecked his Lightning and is parting it out........ I am wondering if this would be a wise decision and would he motor fit in my car??

imo you should get a 390, like the original bullitt, but ford should have done that one

pretty sure ive seen that done on an 02, but the Cobra R motor(i figure same size?) if it fit in that car it will fit in yours, just dont know about the bracketing, might have to get a cobra R piece or somthing. if your do that your bullitt will be bad@$$, ford should have given that thing like 350-360 horse imo, betweent a cobra and an R, just my thoughts though

Well i can get the Lightning Motor for 2,700, but i have no idea what to sell my motor for?? I figure it would take a lot of work to get my motor to 360HP and the 5.4 capable of producing A LOT more HP anyways. Would the supercharger have any problem clearing the hood also?? I have a 2001 Cobra R 3" cowl on there now. Where could i find brackets and what would a installation cost to swap motors??

you should be able to get the motor in there no prob as the k-member works for both 4.6 and 5.4. the mounts should be the same too. the only real prob i forsee is the hood. even with a 4" cowl i still dont' think it would clear that supercharger. other than the hood clearance issue, it should be a straight forward swap.

I believe the problem is the front of the S/C sits too far forward so you need a huge cowl closer to the front in order to get it to fit.... You could always just have it poking through the hood of the car could be a new look

Here we go again.

The fully built Lightning motor will fit without any other problems, if you dont want to drive around with a hood on. The blower sits up too high. Now if you want to go all motor, you can buy adapters to fit the stock PI intake on to the 5.4 motor.

The 5.4 motor is nothing more than a 4.6 with a taller deck height and more stroke. You probably wont see anything worth the cost of HP gain but you will see a lot of torque. You will have to buy custom headers because with the taller deck height, the stock 4.6 headers would hit the body or other parts of the car.

Now, havent you already bought parts to get your 4.6 redone? If you have, then why are you thinking about getting a 5.4?

Do a search next time.
