My friend just got a real nice 1991 5.0 with 17" wheels (5 lug swap), 3:55 gears and a 4 banger T5 (100% stock engine except for underdrive pullies and CAI)...

On dry pavement going about 60 or 70km/h in 3rd gear, just hammer the gas and the car ends up sideways smoking a lot of rubber :D GOD I LOVE MUSTANGS!!!! I can't wait to get mine on the road because mine is worse due to the 3:73 gears and I also have a 4 banger T5 lol

I suggest you guys try a 4 banger T5 with 3:55 gears at 100km/h the RPM is at 2200 which isn't too bad and in town the car is a real freaking monster with a pretty much stock 5.0L

On top of that I'm aiming for 400HP N/A with some Victor Jr heads on my setup :D So imagine that hehehe Poor ricers aren't going to like me very much. I like to let them hang with me so they think they might have a chance, then wave good bye, hammer the gas and pull past him going sideways a little hahaha! fugging PRICELESS!

u guys crack me up, why would anyone wanna waste their time with a 4 cyl T5, weaker internals and definetly not capable of handling the tq of our 302s. Thats almost like saying lets throw a 7.5" rear end in and have some fun picking up the pieces when it breaks apart. I'm with u on the ricers thing tho :)

Sorry but the 4 banger T5 will hold up, if it doesn't, screw it, I'll get some 4:10's and buy a new 6 speed which would be pretty good. But the stock 5.0L T5 isn't that much better. I'm trying to take care of the weak spots one piece at a time. I might get an entire STRANGE rear-end in a month or so, then I'll attack the T5 by buying a new 6 speed and parts I need to make it fit.

I have a buddy who uses four banger trannys. He bought one rebuilt for $100 and he even got a warranty with it. Whenever he blows it he gets a new one.

I dunno, if you don't mind swapping trannys all the time then it can be a cheaper route in the short run. I would just save up a bit more cash and put a real tranny in. But that's just me 2 cents.

Only if you take into account the cost of the tranny. What happens when you're in the middle of B/F nowhere, or out of town and end up having to foot a tow bill for several hundred dollars. That's right after you had to miss work because that's where you were on your way to when it happened.

It could get expensive really quick. :(
