Has anyone used a hurst v-gate inline shifter for their 4 speed shifters? How would you rate this shifter. How hard is it to downshift on the street.

I've never driven one on the street, only at the track. Great for the track, but I imaging it would get old on the street real quick. Try a Super Shifter 3 for the street. It's decent for the track as well and has the reverse lockout.

the super shifter 3 looks just like the comp plus except added reverse lockout and short stick.

For the v gate it shows to installation kits for the toploader... one for a trans code of 432 and one for 433, where can i find this?

I believe it's based on what tailshaft housing you have. A 432 is actually a 3+1 tranny, the 433 and 434 are likely what you're looking for.

Yea but the 432 has the same mounting locations as mine. It says 432: 3+1, t,&c and shows the holes for a mustang and this came out of a 68 mustang.

That chart says 3+1 T&C, not 3+1, T&C. I've only ever seen the 433 and 434. I've seen the 433 with just the top hole on the end tapped as well and I've seen the back two tapped and the middle one on the top on that 433 as well, sorta like the 336 & 337.

The 3+1 was a late 70's, 80's tranny, it's different than a toploader 4 speed.

I used to have one in my stang, it really is a race shifter that you can use for the street, however downshifting from 3rd or 4th to 2nd can be tricky when around town. I took it off for the competition plus, which is very street friendly...
