Some good money will be coming in soon and I plan on going way of a crate engine. My car has 112k and I don't think its worth it to dump money into it. My friend put a 383 chevy in a wrangler and the thing hauls. I happen to be browsing ebay the other day and I came across a chevy 383 crate with 400 horse. The price is extremely good however I don't know how the componants are. If anyone could check it out and tell me what you think about it that would be great.

The guy is also selling several other engines; Ford 390 and 428, and several other gm.
-Thanks

motion to ban stang2087 for violating Mustang owner's conduct code #1 section A volume I which clearly states

#1 secion A Volume I: "No Mustang owner can put a motor in his Mustang based off anything other than a Ford block...even thinking about this act could cause you to go straight to hell without passing go or collecting your $200"

see like i said...Hell is bad therefore you should not put Chevy motors in your Ford Mustang....

I now a guy with a 377 in a FOX. It runs low 11's on motor all day long on drag radials. Putting a Chevy motor in isn't that hard, but I wouldn't do it with a SN95.

Haha. Sorry guys I am a true fan of fords, but ford crates are a lot of money, something i don't have right now. Anyways, I looked into some ford blocks, pricing etc. and i found a Ford 390, check it out:

That better?! Could I fit an engine of this size in my car? Also, would I have to have custom mounts made and modify the engine compartment? Thanks

hell yeah thats better, and hell yeah it will fit...remember demensions wise the old Ford 460 is actually SMALLER than the 4.6L mod motor...so if Ford fit both the Single cam and dual cam mod motors in the SN95 chassis from 96-2004 you could def fit a 390 in there....

I would definatly consider that my favorite option, however I just have a few questions. The price on that engine seems relatively low...Why is that? Also, would my 5 speed spline or would the tranny be able to handle the power(stock tranny)? thanks so far... Matt

Some chevy guys aren't stupid... They know the importance of weight. I saw a fox car with a chevy big block run 8's at the track.. Sorta funny... It said Ford Tough with Chevy Stuff on it... He probaby got into the 8's with half the money it would take a ford. Im not bashing ford or anything but when it comes to bigger cubic inches the price seems to sky rocket.

A motor is a motor far as im concerned.. But I wouldn't go through all the hassle with a snl car.... TOO HEAVY!!! Also i wouldn't do it with a small block either...

My major concern is ease of installation, meaning: i really don't want to get a new tranny, and I need to figure out what i would do for motor mounts. However my main concern is reliable of the componants and whether or not i can use my tranny.

That would be pushin around 350 rwhp right? I would def be happy with that. But once again my question comes up, how could i tell if it would spline with my tranny? Please help... Thanks

it is still a chevy engine...yes I have read all the posts and know why some of you say it is ok but to me....keep your ford a ford let your chevy be a chevy...

Thank god for the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, without that in front of the trailer, I'd have to tow 2 vehicles home from the races. I'd prefer if it was only the Mustang. :rlaugh:   :nice:
