I am fairly new to this board and I am hoping to solicit some advice.
I just sold my last toy, 2000 Lightning, and now I want to build me a nice 1994/1995 stroked 408 GT.
The reason I want to go this route is I feel I have better chance to achieve my 500hp, reliable daily driver, low upkeep goals for less money.

Is it possible to build a 408 that will Idle very smooth, have excellent streetability, and also lay down 500 RWHP?? I also want something that will require very little maintenance to keep on the road ( basically a very reliable setup) I realize I will give up some HP to make it tame/relatively quiet for cruising
I plan on going with quality forged components and a girdle for stength.
I have been searching for used components to save some cash and I have found the following:

"I got your specs, the block is standard bore 4.00, RL=6.125, CH=1.350 was doing 408 at time, girdle is still attached to block, from machine shop, was o decked, and hot tanked, block height is 9.475, the Trick Flow R heads are a 61cc chamber head, intake port 206cc, exhaust port 92cc, has 2.08 intake valves, 1.60 exhaust valves, 1.560 in. dual springs, 10 degree machined steel with lash cap, and flow 305 and 222 out of box, these heads are brand new still in package, compatible with the loc-wire 1262 gaskets, guideplates everything is in these heads, have arp head studs for TW R head and Ford Motorsport 1.72 roller rockers, brand new all goes."

Would these heads make a good head for what I want to do?? Is the springs too much for hydraulic lift??
Fianlly if the heads will work what would be a fair price to offer this guy for heads and block if everything is in good shape??
I want to be fair, but I also know I may have to sale the parts if my projects falls through and I do not want to loose money.

Thanks!!

i dont know how streetable you are talking about...but 500hp out of a 408 isnt that streetable especially since you will need a cam and nice heads to make it there....but i could be wrong

500HP-550HP out of a streetable stroker with good head's, compression(10.8:1+) and a mild cam is by all mean's possible! Check out sig!
I'm running a Comp Xtreme Energy Hyd. Roller .555/.576 lift, 236/240 Duration @.50, 110ls with 1.6 rocker's, and my 408 is very streetable. Just need a really good cooling system and decent gears (3:73+)and a couple of other minor thing's for it to run well on the street. Of course it will be be a bit rough, but not overly rough.
I havn't been on the dyno yet(Booked June 12 on a chassis dyno), but I know 550HP/550TQ at the flywheel is a very reasonable estimate for my combo.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
