I can get a 1989 351 efi motor and 5 spd tranny out of F-250 for $150 but is that a good one to go with? not sure if its a roller motor that year?

I think he is right, 150 for a block and trans isnt bad though, you could buy that stuff and possibly sell the trans for what you paid for the motor and tranny.

My 408 was built from the year you are looking at purchasing. I put a roller conversion in it. Works good. The blocks are probably good to 700hp if it is not damaged. Cheers.

How much did it cost you to build it? And what does the conversion kit cost?

Just get link bar lifters no need for a roller conversion...
