Hey has anyone ran a 430 gear in their 99-2004 Mustang GT? I blew up my rearend with a 410 on stock internals, and I'm replacing it all with either 31 or 33 spline axles with either an auburn pro diff or detroit truetrac differential. Im also adding upper and lower control arms and subframes, and I seen Bill Putnam's car on feature rides a 2000 GT runnen 430 gears with a similar setup turnen 12.91's on slicks. I got Strange adjustable shocks and struts too. The only thing im afraid of is getten into that 5th gear down the track and I kno I will with a 430..........Any advice or experiences would help out greatly!

Well it was a number of things. I really run my car hard when its out......I think i blew it by dumpen the clutch and heaten the tires up at a light when i was racing my friend, and it took a few days and it got worse and worse. I ended up blowing the carrier bolts and cracked the diff directly in half.....i got it as a paper weight on my desk now! Last year i ran nittos and slicks so it was only a matter of time before i weakened and blew it.........your runnen a 430 how do u like it?

4.30's here also, If your engine doesnt rev past 6000 then you will need a taller tire , 27-28. Eaton should be prefered over a auburn for drag racing or go with a detriot locker. 31 spline superior axles seem to be the best all around and have a 5 year warranty. And go with a T/A cover with arp studs.

I've seen a lot of people with 4.30s run into 5th gear at the track?!

Is that a statement or a question?

On a stock tire you will run out of gear at about 104-105 MPH. With a 26x8.5 slick you can go up to 108-109 MPH in 4th before running out of gear. Or you can just move the rev limiter up to 6200 RPM or so to get you some more room at the top end of the track.
