430 gears to big

So 3.90 is the new ultimate gear?

Im going the gear route soon, hopefully. Everyone says 4.10, and ive just been convinced that 4.10 is the way to go. But how much gear is too much gear and gets to the point of losing acceleration like you said? I would be pissed if that happened.

I have track tires, big farkin 275/60/15's so traction is not a problem at the track.

Depending on the power you are making, or plan to make, taller gearing could actually slow you down a lot.
On my 99 I started with 4.10's, after the s/c I moved to 3.73's because of traction issues, and I have to shift way to fast, with the 4.10's I only spent about 1.5 sec in 1st and 2nd gear, and most of that time was spend on the rev limiter (this is with 315 nitto 555's) There were mini vans that could launch better than me.
3.73 Helped a lot, took 1/2 a sec off of my 0-100 time
After the turbo was put on I was back to having the same problems I had with the 4.10's
Now I'm down to 3.55's and must use drag radials for daily driving.

So before getting a gear set, think of where you want your car to be in a year... What mods will you add? What kind of power will you make?
