460 in a 89 gt

i am thinking of doing this . will the 460 bolt to my stock 89 gt auto trans? what about motor mounts? thanks in advance

You have to buy special mounts, Summit sells them. I'm pretty sure the AOD will not bolt up, I could be wrong though.

i wouldnt suggest putting that AOD behind the 460 anyway! unless its really built! i too am not sure it will bolt up...


try a search... its been done a bunch of times

it can be done but is by no means a plug-and-play operation...i wouldnt recommend it unless you or someone you know is very good with cars and custom work...

ExplodingGopher (posts in 5.0 talk alot) did a 460 swap in his 91 LX. try contacting him...

You will need new motor mounts, swap oil pan and headers, and no, your AOD will not bolt up.

thanks for the info! i was seeing if the aod trans would bolt up for the heck of it . i was gong to get a trans from tci . has anyone here used fuel injection on a 460 in an 89 gt?was it a pain?
