I have a 85 Mustang. The original tach is way off. Whats the easiest way to correct it? I dont want to use a aftermarket tach at all, i want the original look. Ive heard there may be a switch on the tach itself, but who knows. Ive also thought maybe taking off the needle and setting it where its supposed to be? Thanks

Should be a switch on the front of the tach under the gauge bezel. Its marker 4 6 8 realign it

Get a V8 tach. The only tach with a switch is the 6 cylinder tach and that tach only goes up to 6 grand. All the other tachs just have an empty space where the switch would be.

The original tach in my car goes up to 6k. Ill have a look at it tomorrow, and see if the switch is present.

Its either 6k tachs that have it, or 6 cylinder tachs. Im not a 100% sure.

All my pre 87 stangs had the switch. Take the panel off in front of the cluster and you will see a switch that says 4/6/8.Turn to 8 and you are good to go.

Yep found the switch, but only the 4 and 6 cylinder switch work. I guess i need to find another gauge cluster from the junk yard. At least now its a little more accurate being switched to 6 instead of 4.
