4th gear pop out

alright, this is not mustang related. but i posted in the tech field because im about to buy a tsi for a good price, but it pops out of fourth gear.. what could this be related to? throwout bearing?

I think that the transmission is getting ready to T5...but in all honesty i'm not a transmission guy by any means.

Popping out of gear means bad syncro. Did you say TSI? Meaning Talon?? I would stear cleeeear!!! I work for a JY, and everybody always wants a lot of dough for them.

Just curious, what year is it? Try to stay away from the 94-95 dsms as much as possible because crank walk is almost certain to get you...

not to thread jack, but why do so many 90s mits have drivetrain probs? new evos seem to be great, whats with the 90s period?

Could it be the shift fork, because it doesnt grind on its way into gear, however the throwout bearing is bad

As mentioned above, it sounds like a bad synchro gear. I wouldn't recommend buying the car, simply because a tranny for one of those things is sure to run as much as (or more than) the amount he's probably planning to pay for the whole car, itself. Add to that the fact that FWD cars are a total PITA to work on (tranny work usually requires removing the tranny AND the motor, as well as pulling both CV shafts), and the Talon/Eclipse/Laser cars are famous for having "crank walk" problems in turbo'ed motors. I'd avoid that thing like a chick with cold sores all around her mouth.
