I have 1966 and I am installing a 5.0 in it but I dont want to run power steering . what advise can I get ? get a shorter belt or what. also thethe air pump I would like to do away with
Do a search on belt routing in 5.0 tech. Here is the post I used: Belt routing There have been a few posts with links. I cannot find my link but am looking at the print out from one of the posts .
Deleting the smog pump is cake. Just rip everything out from the pump back and plug the holes at the back of the engine. I will use a smaller belt rather than spend money on pulleys. If you have any other questions, PM me. I am no expert but am doing the swap now and maybe I can give you some shortcuts.
BTW- if you have questions about the 5.0L motor and EFI. The guys on the 5.0 Tech forum will be more helpful. Some here have done the swap but I found that most everyone on the Classics side are real helpful on the same. Absolutely no offense meant everyone!!!! Classic forum folks are the best!
