It looks like the search function is missing so I'll just make a post.
As you know from my past posts, I had some oil pressure issues and now am looking for a replacement motor. The current motor has a 289 block that came from a 64 Fairlane (according to the casting ID) mated to a C4 auto.
I know a guy with a 95 GT with 5.0 with 55,000 miles on it. He's planning on swapping in a stroked 351W so I told him that I may be interested in his old long block.
Here are my questions assumptions (please correct me if I'm wrong)
1. 64 289s had 5 bolt bell housing pattern while newer 289/302's have 6 bolt. Does that mean that I'll have to get a newer C4 to make it work or can the bell housing swapped or modded to make it work? How about the flex plate?
2. As far as I know, the 5.0 should bolt onto the stock motor mounts.
3. Can I reuse the intake for the 289 on the 5.0 or did they do something different with the heads?
4. Will I have to use an electric fuel pump or do those EFI 5.0's still have mounts for mechanical units?
5. I understand that the side oil dipstick tube needs to be blocked and I need to reuse the timing chain cover with the dipstick hole from the 289 to the 5.0.
6. Same thing with the oil pickup tube/screen.
Is there anything else that I'm missing here?
