5.0 engine ID?

Hello all. hopefully someone can help me out. i recently picked up this 5.0 and was told it was from a 1989 can anyone confirm this? the number on the block right behind the intake manifold is 1Y822876 any help would be greatly appreciated. also is there anywhere else on this motor i can find more info about this motor . thank you!

Nothing really comes up under that number. Do you have a pic of entire engine for reference?

And just to be clear: There are only minor differences in engines from 87 to 93 and Windsor engines are not serialized.

That's a partial VIN to the vehicle it was installed in. I beleive "Y" is the year code...2000.


The block casting numbers will be on the side near the starter. There is also a 4-digit date code cast into the same area



87-90 Mustangs would have an E7TE block, while 91-95 Mustangs and F150/Explorers will have an F1SE block.


Date code will be in this format 1A23

When we took a friend’s seats to get reupholstered the driver frame was cracked. The upholstery guy stated practically every one he sees ends up being cracked somewhere, especially if a larger dude drives it.
