I was looking to rebuild a 5.0 engine this summer. The engine is free as long as I can pull it and it has a little over 180,000 miles. My budget is around the $1500-$2000 range. I am looking for something that will give me more performance than stock and that will pass inspection. I know I will replacing the cam,pistons,rockers,lifters,etc but don't know what to look for performance wise. I will be doing all the work besides the necessary machine shop work. What kind of work would the block need at the machine shop? I'm open to any ideas for parts or advice
