5.0 Resto Door Panels

While I havent gotten them yet, based on my past experiences with the company, Id say theyre going to be a damn good product. Theyve been posting in their catalogs for a couple years now about looking to track down the same tooling that Ford used to make the originals and as soon as they did then theyd get someone to manufacture them. It seems theyve found what they needed. Im just waiting for someone to start making new inside trim pieces and well be good to go. Its kind of a shame that you can go to Year One and get a trans am or camaro catalog and practically build a new car from scratch yet no one makes mustang trim pieces yet and theyve outlasted and outsold the GM crap. Oh well, in time I guess...

To my knowledge no one currently does or ever has with the exception of Ford. 50 resto claims theyre looking for the tools and equipment Ford used to make the originals so they can get them manufactured again... and if they came through on the door panels finally (I personally didnt think they would) then Im starting to have faith that some day theyll have trim pieces available. Same as the door panels, the market for the trim pieces is huge. Everyone I know with a foxbody, there one complaint is missing or broken trim on the inside. Every junkyard around here is picked clean already too.

i gotta get a set to.. its my only thing i can do lol my door panels have big rips in it from dogs that previous owners had crapola

Did it have that horrible dog smell too? when I used to valet I'd have to drive a lot of cars that people carried their dogs around in them... Sometimes the smell was bad enough to make me vomit, no joke. Not that all dogs smell bad, except when you dont take care of them of course!

to me thats a good thing those pouches are the one thing i really hate about fox interiors

I kinda like mine, as the owners manual wont fit in the glovebox, so its in the p/s pouch and I keep a really slim flashlight in the d/s pouch that I have easy access to.

id rather not have the pouches.. i think it looks freakin clean like that.. but then again my rear seat delete has the storage places so i have a spot to stick stuff

no pouches on my stock 87

and im glad, they were worn out on my old car and made it looks like my grandpa's caddy

one thing though.... having a black interior is really rare, and a lot of people (including myself) want it. if 50resto makes new interior pieces, then anybody would have a black interior, and make it more common in modded foxes.. oh well, thats life

i wish we had drink holders :(

If these door panels are the same quality as their carpeting and upholstery, then they are pretty danmed good.

I just got done putting in their Massback carpeting and redoing my seats with the vinyl/cloth upholstery and they were really good quality pieces. They had just about all the pieces I needed for rebuilding the console and dash, so now my door panels look like hell. Looks like 50Resto gets some more of my money!!!

WQRed50,

Did you use the seat upholstery kit that was around $400? Is so, was it good quality, how did it match and did it fit good? I've been debating on ordering the seat upholstery kit, but wasn't sure if it would look factory. Thanks.

Yep, it was the 87-93 Sport Cloth. I wait forever for them to get the cloth for the vert. My daughter will inherit this pony and she wanted the stock cloth. So.... after they had it available, I got it. It was excellent quality stuff. Front bottoms and backs with headrest covers, rear top and bottom. Even had a cheap hog-ring pliers and rings in the kit. They broke before I was finished, but a nut and bolt fixed them.

There were some pieces that I had problems with. Rear seat had short fabric tabs to hold the horizontal pieces down near the sides, but nothing that a little ingenuity could not overcome. Just don’t toss anything from the old stuff till your finished installing the new. All the little extras had to be cut. Sharp exacto knife works good. It took me about 2 weeks of a little bit here and there to get them recovered and the front seat accessories (electric lumbar support and side supports) working.

If you are willing to spend some time and sweat, I highly recommend the upholstery kit from 50Resto. On my website (listed below) there are before, during and after pictures.

Think about the carpeting when you have the seats out. If mine wasn’t so badly worn, I would have steamed cleaned it. I replaced it with the Mass-back carpeting. That came with ¼ trim and Pony matts front and rear. My interior looks like brand new!
