Im going to order a new driver side front fender and a new front bumper w/ cobra insert tonight. 5.0Resto offers aftermarket ($84.95) and OEM ($343.95) fenders...Im guessing the OEM are better quality and fit? Do the GT front fenders have mounting holes in them? Also they offer a Cobra bumper cover kit for $204.95....do the aftermarket front bumpers fit well? Thanks for any help.

I just bought an after market fender and front nose myself... gimme a minute and I'll see who from.

The fender is from the famous http://www.blueovalindustries.com/ (like $75)and the front nose from http://www.auto-bodyparts.com/ was off of ebay for like $150 total. The cobra piece is an insert, and I think you have to cut up the aftermarket nose to get it in there unless it came with it.

Also, the fender is missing the vertical rivet holes, but has the horizontal ones. Haven't tried the ground effect yet. I just put my old pieces on with a drill and a rivet tool (use short fat rivets).

The nose is not on yet, but the fender fits pretty good... still needs adjusting.

Can you tell any differences between the stock fender and the aftermarket fender...in quality? Thanks.

No diff in quality- And you're other question is exactly why I had to buy a fender...

The 91-93 is made larger in the front where the ground effects piece is. This was done for larger wheels (Ponies and 93 Cobra 17"x8"). I bought a set of Cobra R's and had to have one more larger fender, as it was mismatched when I bought the car. That moron I bought it from ended up saving me money?

Oh yeah- the ground effects piece (scoop) in front is defferent as well!!! Spent $70 on Ebay for that bad boy!

Let me know how it goes!

PS: There's a line of metal jutting straight up under the fender on the car where 2 pieces meet. Eeek I need a picture, anyway you might have to take pliers and bend it down from the Cowl to the Nose (that's the whole crease). I had to, luckily my friend was there and took body shop in HS!!!

Should I go with OEM over aftermarket....is there any advantage? Thanks for your help.

oem, I went with some aftermaket stuff for my lx and i still went out and got junk yard ones because their were real and fit.

I had the same experience as Mustangsally. I got a parts car that had aftermarket fenders on it when I wrecked my '88 HB. After several frustrating hours of adjusting and refitting the non-Ford fenders I found a set of cherry '87 used Ford fenders. Problem solved. Fit great, all gaps and creases lined up perfect!
Also due to the previous owners handiwork on my son's '93 car I ended up with a '90 fender on the right side and a '93 on the left. It's all assembled now and no rubbing issues on the right side {yea!} I put Pony wheels with stock size 225/55/16 tires on it. It's close and most likely would not clear on a V-8 car that was lowered or with non-stock wheels. The ONLY difference I could measure on the '91-'93 from the earlier {'90 down} was the taper on the front lower section of the wheel opening from the moulding down. It tapers about 3/4" more.
I would spend the extra for Ford OEM fenders or hunt the boneyards for genuine Ford stuff!

Well I guess its obvious that I should buy OEM fenders. My body guy said he would be calling for my car by the end of February! Now I need to find some excellent "MUSTANG GT" side ground effect skirts. Thanks.

I know...good ground effects are hard to find....I thought about just buying the Cervini Cobra conversion kit and leaving on my GT spoiler. I'm curious if the Cervini kit lines up and fits good?

I may have to recant that... Doesn't seem to fit well, but there isn't a junk yard in a 60 mile radius here with a fender. Now that I've tried adjusting it again I see what you guys mean

I have the aftermarket fender from 50resto. It fit really well the only problem I had with it is that I had to straighten the front of it a little to get the body panels to line up. Not too much trouble but still very good quality.
