5.0 stroker kit...any need to modify the stock block?

4.6 to 5.0 stroker kit...any need to modify the stock block?

Ive been doing alot of research lately as far as engine combos go, and so far ive thought of 32v swap, dss longblock crate, and now i have a new idea to add to my options: keep the stock block, get a stroker kit (5.0 from dss, forged), more aggressive cams, heads, chip, headers, the works. Of course, this brings up new questions. For starters, will I have to modify the block at all? MM&FF has that project gt with 600+ hp on the stock block, so i am not sure that a stronger block would be required, and that I could retain the old stuff, and save some cash. It would also help me get closer to that kb sc'er im drooling over.... :nice: Opinions? :shrug:
 
well, i can install the stroker kit myself, as long as there is no machining needed to be done on the block. I think the stock block could hold up to all i want to give it (im thinking no more than 600 hp, correct me if im wrong or if anyone has any experience with cracking a stock block) i did not want to have to have the block machined, if i was going to do that i would just buy the short block. i would just get 4.6 forged internals,. but i would like to upgrade to 5.0. hell everyone always asks "that got a 5.0 in it?" It would be kindof cool to be able to say yes for once. If not for wanting the little upgrade (i do not know how much better the 5.0 stroke would make the engine) i would just get the 4.6 forged internals.
 
i'm pretty sure that, in order to get an extra .4L, you have to bore the cylinders as well as stroke it. most of the 5.0 mod stroker shortblocks i've seen have a .020" overbore. go with a built shortblock stroker if you want the extra displacement.
 
that stroker kit is the forged internals, right? That seems to be the way i wanna go...and now that i look at your sig that is kind of what i had in mind. stock block, stroked 2v (forged internals) and kb blower...
 
how will boreing it out to 5.0 effect the cars computer? will that type of mod mess with the computer(check engine light)? how about passing emissions, will boreing it out make you fail? or does it not make a difference?
