Damn, I used to know this stuff. OK, a 93-95 ( I forgot which exact year) 5.0 engine out of a lincoln mark VIII 8, I know the cam is different, but what else about the longblock is different? I am pretty sure they both use E7's and all. Sorry the search didn't get me the results I was looking for.

I know of someone who has one with low miles and a good price, I need an engine to get my car running again, I worry about the big engine further down the road. Right now I just want to get down the road.

First off....the Lincoln Mark VIII was a 4.6L DOHC. The Mark VII has the 5.0L HO.

Otherwise, everything else (other than the forementined camshaft....depending on the year is probably the same grind as the '93 Cobra) is the same. The upper intake might be a little different as well, I can't 100% recal, but you should be albe to tell by the size of the throttle body it's got. If it's 60mm, it's the same as the '87-'93 Mustang, if it's smaller, it's not. ECU is different and maybe a couple of sensors here and there, but since you're swapping everything over from your old engine (I would assume) you shouldn't have a problem.

Are the cam and tb's actually different? I thought that was Thunderbirds and Cougars that had different, cams, tb's, upper intakes, not Mark VII's as the Thunderbirds werent HO. Pretty sure a Mark VII has a 5.0 HO which should be the same exact deal as a Mustang? Are the engine brackets the same?

Yea but was that off of an 86 Mark VII? I could see that being the case then. Confused on this whole deal.

86 TBs had a 58mm opening, the later HOs had a 60 mm opening. the upper had a small difference too a larger plenum in 87 from what i read on mustanggt.org

these differences are snall are hardly worth mentioning.

that info is for mustang i have know idea if that does in fact apply to the marks but i know for sure the mark 7's had e7 heads i had a friend use an engine from a mark 7 for his own project and e7s came out of that.

the whole engine he pulled looks IDENTICAL to the HO engines from the 87-up mustangs i think they were the same

The engine in my car right now came out of a '88 Lincoln Mark 7 LSC. I just slapped a custom cam in it with some Thumper heads and Tmoss ported intake.

Oh, found out it was a Lincoln TOWN CAR it came out of. Well, I looked it over, under the valve cover, it had E6's, which I know that means the cast dish pistons with no valve reliefes, said no thanks.

Thanks for the help everyone.
