Had a good weekend at the local pick n pull. Picked up some 96 spindles w/ hubs, SN95 rear axles, 96 a-arms, all the rear brake lines from a 95 and a 96, the brackets and anti moan brackets and some calipers from a 96. All of it was $140. I think it was a pretty good deal. Is there any advantage to using the 96 a-arms?

the 96 a-arms and spindles will push the front track width out more than the stock. i dont remember what the measurement was, but i think it was like 34mm wider. most people run 94/95 spindlesup front. the 95 rear axle will push the track width out 1.5" then u have to watch what kind of rims u buy, meaning the offset

Yeah ive read that. Planning on running 17x8's so from what I can find the 13mm extra on each side in the front and .75" in the back wont cause any rubbing of the fenders. Do the a-arms kick it out further in the front?

Don't use the A-arms, they will push the front wheels WAY out and the camber will be so far out you won't be able to get the wheel straight up and down.

Sell em on Ebay.

You should be able to make the 96+ spindles work up front with 17x8's. You can even run S197 17" wheels

I've read the difference between the 94/95 an the 96 up spindles is 8mm. the prob is with the A arms being 1.33" longer. I'm gonna run them on my car because its an 84 an has a 1" narrower front track so the 1.33 will be .83" which i think i can live with.

not trying to thread jack...

but i have a 95gt rear end can so i know running any deep dish wheel is now not an option, or thought it wasnt until now. cna i run a deep dish designed wheel for an s197 and still not rub?

The difference between 94-95 and 96+ is 8mm, but the 94-95 spindles are 5mm wider than the Fox setup. That means 96+ is 13mm wider than the stock fox track (1987+)

Cool...thanks. I probably would have left them but I couldn't get the ball joint to seperate from the spindle

can't you NOT use the axles from an SN on a FOX because the axle length is a bit longer,same with not being able to use 99-04 axles in 94-98 because they are again longer then those.

93 teal terror--- DO NOT use the 94-04 control arms. The arm is longer and the ball joint sticks out way further. Your wheels will stick out from the fenders over 1 inch. Also, I think you are right about the 94-04 17X9's. They will stick out about 1/8". Then add the tire..which might be another 1/8" or so depending on size and brand. S197 17X9 wheels will be better...as long as they don't rub on the inner well.

BK Cauley---It isn't so much the fact that it is deep dish. You just want to make sure you buy the correct offsets...For a 94-95 rear end, I suggest using a stock 17X8, +30mm offset Mustang wheel...(stock). OR....I suggest using a 17X8 S197 wheel, with a +45mm offset. The 17X8 S197 will sit inward 15mm more than the SN95 style.

BK---One thing to try is a 17X9 +45mm S197 wheel. I am using that combo in the rear on my 81...but remember....I have the 01 axle which is 3/4" longer then the 94-98 and 1-1/2" longer than the stock fox length. I wonder if you would have enough room for the backspacing with the 94-98 axle.

this is quoted from 5l5 from the corral. its pretty much what i want to know an d find out if it works so i can get my wheels this summer.

That's basically what I want. It's not to specifically run S197 wheels, but take advantage of the new deeper offsets to correct the problem with the Sn95 axles pushing the SN95 17x9's out too far. WHo knows, maybe S197-offset 18x10's could fit? That's what i'm trying to figure out.

The 17x9's have 6.77" backspacing
The 18x10's have 7.27" of backspacing

Compare that to the SN95-offsetsd
17x9 = 5.94"
18x10 = 6.38"

That means the S197 17x9's are 0.83" deeper than the SN95 versions. Since the SN95 is 0.75" wider than stock Fox, The S197 wheels would pull the wheel back in pretty much that 3/4"

Same with the 18x10's it's a 0.89" difference. Pretty close to 3/4" (1987+)

That is correct. I agree with that quoted statement.

As soon as my 81 is painted, I am ordering wheels...and I will post them up...make sure you get in my thread.

Here is what 17X9 +24mm offset wheels look like with the 2001 axle....so just picture them sitting inward 3/4" if I used the 94-98 axle....(but they would still sit out 1/8")

This sits out 7/8" of an inch...which tells me having a 94-98 axle would bring it in 3/4"....still leaving the tire sitting out 1/8")

I never investigated these offsets any further than that hypothetical post. I still have yet to get any confirmation than an S197 9 or 10" wheel will fit fine on the rear of the fox with Sn95 track out back.

I haven't decided on a wheel to run PLUS i think i may *upgrade* to 96+ spindles when i do my k-member so i may have to revisit this idea
